Rating: ★★★★★

Disclaimer: None, I bought this book with my own money!

Hello readers, it's been a while! Today I will be talking about my thoughts on Supernova, the final book in the Renegades trilogy. I must warn you, there will be mild spoilers so read at your own risk.

First off, I must say how glad I am that I actually picked this book up. I loved Renegades but with Archenemies I was left wanting more, which was why I was not keen on reading Supernova. However, all of my expectations were surpassed and I am so happy with how everything ended.

The first thing I must mention is the character development. In the first two books, everything is either black or white, good or bad, villain or superhero. However, in Supernova the characters slowly but surely realize that life isn't always black and white and they delve into what it means to be more than just a simple label of "good"or "bad". I think this was my favorite aspect of the book because we got to see the characters have more depth than in the first two books.

Something else I enjoyed was, of course, the romance filled with angst. If you've read the other two books you know that our main character, Nova is posing undercover as a superhero while actually trying to bring them down from the inside. However, it all changed when she met Adrian, falling head over heels in love with him, even if she doesn't want to admit it. It was a treat reading about their relationship and seeing them struggle over the secrets each one kept from the other.

Last but not least, I will say the "big plot twists" were, in my opinion, really obvious and I guessed them since the second book. However, the way they played out is what I enjoyed reading so I didn't really mind it that much. Overall, this book was honestly amazing and the development from the last two books was off the roof.

In summary, this book deals with sixteen year old Charlotte having to deal with an attack on her kingdom and an impromptu engagement. We get to see her rise up and do what she must to save her country, including trusting the prince she so badly despised in the beginning.

When I first read the premise of this book, I was incredibly excited to read it because it sounded like a fun, fast paced read. In this aspect, I have to admit the book delivered because it was quite fast paced and a fairly entertaining read. I liked the overall progression for Charlotte and Young's characters and I liked how their relationship progressed and flourished throughout the entire book.

However, I felt like this book didn't live up to its full potential. In my opinion, it was incredibly repetitive and I didn't really empathize with any of the main characters. If anything, I disliked them the majority of the time because they just couldn't make up their minds about anything, starting with who loved who. This was a huge problem for me because it seemed like they all were in love with one another but with no other explanation than 'we've been spending a lot of time together'.

Overall, this was an enjoyable read but I wouldn't go into it expecting the best epic fantasy of the year. If you're looking for a fast paced, short read full of romance, then this book is definitely for you.

Title: The Darkest Summer

Author: Ella Drummond

Release Date: July 18, 2019

Publisher: Hera Books

Genre: Fiction, Suspense

Rating: ★★★

Disclaimer: Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review. It has not influenced my opinions.

This book deals with the small town mysteries in midst of a sweltering summer where Sera encounters her long lost friend Dee. Sera has been wondering what happened to Dee and her family and why they left so suddenly fifteen years ago.

The story is set mostly in the present with a few back and forth chapters that serve as a comparison for Dee and Sera's friendship between then and now. We notice the huge change immediately and, as the reader, you can't help but feel for Sera. This reunion clearly wasn't what she was expecting. During Dee's time back she is distant and far from the joyous girl Sera once knew. As soon as Dee was introduced I knew there was something fishy going on with her and her brother, Leo. Although I was able to correctly guess what they were hiding, it wasn't until the very end I was able to confirm it which meant that my nerves where through the roof for the whole book and I couldn't stop reading it.

However, uncovering Dee's tragic past isn't the only thing Sera wants to do. There is a new neighbor that Sera begins getting close to and he has secrets of his own. By far his secrets where the hardest for me to decipher but when you find out it all makes sense and the dots connect perfectly. I really liked the fact that there were no loose ends in the book; everything tied up wonderfully.

I think this is a perfect read for people who, like me, love trying to decipher the mysteries before they're revealed and who love to read books in one sitting. It gets quite fast paced once we are introduced to the characters properly and makes for a good summer read! I also liked the way it written because I could see it so clearly in my head, it was like watching a movie.
